KGL Passenger Transport Services (Sharjah Branch), the operator of Mowasalat, the Sharjah Public Transport Network, launched on June 1, 2010 the ‘Sayer’ Smart Card for the public commuters in Sharjah, UAE, enabling them to pay tickets electronically when they ride any Mowasalat buses.
The 'Sayer' Smart Card launch was attended by KGL Holding Chairman Ali E. Dashti, KGL PTS Chief Executive Officer in Sharjah Fahad Al-Awadhi, KGL PTS Executives and other distinguished guests both from the private and government sectors. “The Sayer Smart Card will save passengers their precious time from the inconvenience of getting delayed when paying cash for a paper ticket to the bus driver. Moreover, Sayer Smart Card holders can also save on their travel costs as the card would entitle them to a 10% fare discount,” stated Fahad Al-Awadhi.
The Sayer Card will be available in three denominations – AED 45, AED 90 and AED 180 plus a one-time payment of AED 5 for the Card Cost. The expiry of such cards is 5 years. Al-Awadhi informed that the Sayer Card can be bought from various Mowasalat selling points within Sharjah. Passengers can swipe their Sayer card on a ticket machine on a Mowasalat bus and the trip amount will be deducted from the Sayer Card. He cited that commuters can ask for a Sayer ticket from the driver so they can keep track of the remaining balance of their Sayer Card. The card is entirely rechargeable and they can reload it anytime at designated terminals namely Al Ittihad and La Jubail and will soon be available in more locations.
