Created by Shuaiba Area Authority (SACT), operations began in 1996 by Kuwait and Gulf Link Transport Company. SACT is the only purpose – built container terminal in Kuwait and lies inside Shuaiba Industrial Area. There are 4 container berths with a total of 800m of quay length.

KGLIP operates a storage area of 310,000 square meters of open storage area and 14,000 square meters of closed storage area. Additional support storage area reaches 120,000 square meters inside and outside Shuaiba Port. KGLIP also has available to it 240 reefer container points available and expandable to 600 points with Powerpax, auxiliary multi-purpose storage area: 90,000 square meters, exchange area facility custom-designed for container movement from inside the terminal area to outside the port security gate, specialized container handling equipment (straddle carriers) that guarantee 35 container moves per ship every hour.
